My Story
My name is Sagi Habusha.
I have a disease called Duchenne muscular dystrophy, it’s a progressive muscle disease that affects the whole body and takes every ability to be independent over time, at the present time I am paralyzed from my neck to my feet but although all of that I live a full and extraordinary life and in the past 3 years I decided to pursue my biggest dream to become a trance music producer.
My journey to becoming a music producer started when I was a kid, my uncle played at my grandparents’ house ‘Tiesto in concert’ on the DVD player, and the moment I heard the track ‘adagio for strings’ I was drawn to the electronic music. after that I lived a good normal life and didn’t even think about produce music by myself but on 2013 when I’ve first heard Armin Van Buren intense album and ‘Hardwell – Spaceman’, that moment I’ve told myself “how the hell they do that music” and I was started to listen all kind of electronic music but mainly I listened to progressive, club, uplifting trance and EDM/big room.
In 2016 I graduated from college and finished my degree studies, after that I was searching for myself for over two years, wanted to do something extraordinary and meaningful that will put my mark on the world but I still couldn’t figure out what it will be until two exact moments which occurred on 23th of July 2016 and 29th of June 2017.
On the 23rd of July 2016, I was on Avicii’s last tour and meet Jetfire but what change all was on the 29th of June 2017, my biggest inspiration for electronic music or more accurate say trance music Armin Van Burren came to Israel to perform on Tel Aviv, I was so excited about this, it was the first time I could go to an accessible concert of him in Israel, until then all the times he came to Israel I couldn’t go because the location was on the park or on Eilat dessert and my wheelchair and the fact I depend on other people makes it impossible for me to go.
So I bought myself and my friend a ticket and decided to go, after a few days I won a contest and was told that I going to meet Armin Van Burren in person. That concert and after that meeting I knew in my heart that this is what I have to do in my life, after that meeting I started to search for a school that teaches music production.
I’ve got an appointment at Sela school to get information about studying music production and meet the CEO of them Yaniv, he told me that the best way for me to learn is not in class but in a private session at my house, so he connects me to one of his teachers called Itamar which known in the industry as ADAMA. And on September 2018 I started to learn music production under his guidance. My progress with him was fast but I wanted to learn even faster and learn more approaches, to be more focused on the trance genre so I contacted Gal Abutbul (Florentin) and started to learn with him and Ohad Zacky (Zack Evans), the combination of those 3 teachers got to a level that got me to create high-end trance.
It was almost 3 years of experience in music production and recently I made huge progress and got signed my first track on serendipity Muzik – blackhole recording, under the name Benjamin Duchenne the track, called I don’t mind and it was done with the vocal of the singer Victoriya. This track was my first footstep in the major league, and super special.
Now I’m ready to show
My message to the people who are reading this is that although I have a life-threatening disease I choose to follow my dream and fulfill my desire to produce and create music, anything can be achieved if you believe in yourself and invest everything to do in it. I think if I can do it anyone can do it, it is just a matter of how much you want it.
yours,
Benjamin Duchenne
